Go ahead … try it!
“What’s this stuff?”
“Some cereal. It’s supposed to be good for you.”
“Are you gonna try it?”
“I’m not gonna try it.”
“Let’s get Mikey!”
“Yeah!”
“He won’t eat it, he hates everything.”
“He likes it! Hey, Mikey!”
I won’t tell how old you are if you remember that commercial. Yeah, I remember it too. Sometimes those ads transcend their original purpose and become cultural icons.
My point here is not to encourage you to eat a sugary breakfast cereal. It’s to try something new. Mikey did it and discovered, much to his brothers’ surprise, that he liked it.
What new workout or active pursuit might be waiting for you that you haven’t tried before? Well, you don’t know what you don’t know, right?
Here’s a look at some ideas from our “Try-It Tuesday” series:
“Try-It Tuesday: The Triathlon”
“Try-It Tuesday: Arm Yourself” (upper body workout)
“Try-It Tuesday: Go Jump In a Lake!” (open water swimming)
“Try-It Tuesday: Lower Body Strength Training Workout”
“Try-It Tuesday: Raising the Barre” (barre workout)
“Try-It Tuesday: Childhood Throwback” (ice skating)
“Try-It Tuesday: Core Strength Training Workout”
I’ve also written about running, yoga and kettlebells. What can I say, I get bored easily and I need lots of different forms of exercise to keep me my workouts fresh. I also am a big fan of pushing outside my comfort zone.
There’s no growth inside your comfort zone. Just none.
And that’s what weight loss is: growth, change, transformation.
It’s a constant effort to keep pushing ourselves to get better, but what have we got to do that’s more important than that?!? Nothing!
Pick one new thing to do this week.
Try it, and maybe you’ll be like Mikey!
