Calling all experts!
Everybody’s an expert in something.
As for me, I’m an expert on Starbucks … on waiting until the last minute to do stuff … and I’m an expert on second-guessing myself.
So maybe I’m not an expert in everything, but I like to think that I’m pretty good at finding just the right expert when I’m facing a problem. Sometimes that means hiring a skilled plumber, or finding the perfect paint color for the kids’ bathroom (oh dear, how can there be so many shades of beige???)
Lately, I’ve been secretly working on overhauling my website. In the coming days all will be revealed and you’ll see the fruits of my labor. But the truth is that I didn’t do it alone. I had a team of experts helping me, both with design and the technical side of the transformation. I am so grateful for their collective talent and enthusiasm for this project!
The theme of the new website reflects my belief that surrounding ourselves with a supportive team is the best way to accomplish long-lasting happiness. This change also broadens the scope of the issues we’ll be talking about from weight loss and fitness, to bigger “lifestyle” issues like: raising healthy kids, home and personal style, and just plain old fun!
In the meantime, I want to know what you’re an expert in! Know how to sneak veggies into your kids’ meals without them knowing??? Tell me! A pro at entertaining at a moment’s notice??? Please share! Coupon-clipping queen??? Tell us your secrets!
Everybody’s an expert in something, and I want to know what your hidden talent is. Your forte could be exactly what somebody else needs to know in order to move forward in their life, so let’s help each other out!
Email me, DM me, tweet me out, or simply tell me your talent in the comments below, and let’s get this party started!
Have a happy, healthy week!

The pornification of fitness
You needn’t go any farther than the magazine racks at the grocery store or social media to know that nowadays fitness advice looks like erotica. I find this trend disturbing on so many levels, and I’m certainly not the only one who’s noticed. Read more…
What every mom knows
Just over twenty-seven years ago, when I launched myself into parenthood, I had only a vague idea of what it meant to be a mom. I was working full-time at a public accounting firm in Chicago, supporting myself and my husband, who was a law student at the University of Chicago. Read more…
Roasted Chicken with Vegetables
The number of ways you can switch this up to suit your and your family’s taste is limited only by your own imagination and your taste buds. I used Yukon Gold potatoes, onion and asparagus because that’s what my home-delivery organic produce source dropped on my doorstep this week. Read more…
Turkey-Taco Meatloaf
This is so unglamorous it’s not even funny. But truthfully, this is the kind of stuff my family eats. This is typical Sunday night fare for us. It’s loaded with tex-mex flavors and veggies, and the best part is that it can be repurposed as the filling for tacos or on a taco salad later in the week. Read more…
