Healthy living is about so much more than weight loss, but improving our lifestyle habits can be the lever that allows us to access empowerment in all aspects of our lives.

My Philosophy

Transformational change isn’t what brings everyone to the gym or to to seek out a coach, but my personal experience with foundational change is what sets me apart from other trainers and coaches. I know first-hand what it feels like to want so desperately to change ingrained habits and behaviors but fail time and time again. 

Over the course of my own weight loss journey–and now as a certified personal trainer with specialized certifications in behavior change and fitness nutrition–I coach people who want to create profound changes in their own lives. With my foundational experience in fitness, nutrition, weight loss and mindset, and my clients’ willingness to put in the work, we collaborate to challenge long-standing limiting beliefs, build confidence and self-efficacy, and empower proactive change so that they can live the lives they were meant to live.

My Journey

More than 15 years ago, at the age of 44, I had a “rock bottom” experience that shook me to my core. After 20+ years of morbid obesity I was at the end of my rope, hanging on by a thread, when I realized that if I wanted to change my weight, I needed to seize the reins. I wrote about that time at length in my book Eat Like It Matters: How I Lost 120 Pounds and Found My Inner Badass (and in various blog posts archived here), but the real story began when, in those moments of utter discouragement, I came back again and again to one simple truth: I knew with every fiber of my being that I hadn’t been put on this earth to be fat and miserable for the rest of my life. That truth set into motion a series of decisions that completely transformed my body, my health, and if I’m honest, the entire trajectory of my life.

My story is one of realizing my own potential, but it’s also very much about how to find your own. Let me help you on your journey.
