Uh oh, the furnace just came on

unnamed-30The other morning I woke to an unfamiliar sound: the furnace. It was the first time it had kicked in since last spring. I’ve been living in an Indian Summer fantasy land the last few weeks because we’re having such a wonderful early fall, but in the back of my mind I’ve known this moment would come.

Leaves change, the temperature drops, the furnace comes back to life. Ah well, summer will return.

In the meantime, it’s time to embrace this transition. Cooler weather means we’ll be spending more time on indoor pursuits: cooking, home repair projects (good time to do those, before the holidays!) and getting things organized. My family and I are in the process of building a new home (see this week’s blog “Close to Home” below to see we’re up to) so I’ve got lots to do between now and moving day. Gotta get a jump on all of that so we’re not in panic-mode in a couple of months!

Transitions are part of life: sending kids off to college, moving, changing jobs, new website designs (hint, hint … it’s almost ready and I’m so excited!). Staying true to our healthy living goals even during these transitions is a gift we give to ourselves.

So grab a sweater and make a cup of tea. It’s time to fall in!

Have a happy, healthy week!
