Picture this…
I really want to drive this point home, so bear with me if you’ve heard me say this a thousand times:
VISION + GOALS = MOTIVATION
It’s not a perfect system; motivation still ebbs and flows a little bit. I don’t always feel like eating right and working out either! But 99% of the time I do it whether I feel like it or not, and that formula is exactly why.
Week 3 of the “10-Week, 10-Pound Challenge” has been about finding your mojo and using it to your weight loss advantage. Sometimes motivation starts to drift off course a few weeks into a new plan. That’s why I strategically placed these tools here in the schedule, so the action items would strengthen your resolve.
WEEK 3 ACTION ITEMS:
- Create a vision for yourself: either a mental picture or a feeling that you want to achieve. (To learn what mine was when I decided to lose weight, listen to this week’s podcast!)
- Identify non scale-related goals: a physical challenge will give you a very specific target to shoot for and will take the emphasis off of the number on the scale.
To illustrate how the vision + goals = motivation formula works for me I dedicated my “Try-It Tuesday” blog to my own summer goal: competing in my first triathlon. Having new goals keeps me motivated to stay on top of my own healthy living habits.
Coincidentally, this week’s “10-Week, 10-Pound Challenge” prize is an iPod shuffle and a set of waterproof headphones. Perfect for triathlon training!
We’re heading into the dog days of summer and the middle weeks of The Challenge. Keep you vision in your sights, and your goals in the forefront of your mind. That laser-like focus will drive you to weight loss success!
Have a happy, healthy week!
