Consistency is Key
The theme for January’s blogs and videos has been “Ready, Set … Goals!” Because you cannot be successful at permanent weight loss without setting specific, achievable goals.
The other fundamental components of weight loss we’ve explored are:
- Having a realistic and workable eating plan
- Defining and harnessing your motivation
- Committing to consistency
- Prioritizing healthy living by busting through the time-wasters (that’s next week, so stay tuned!).
In Tuesday’s blog, “Consistency is Key” I stated that your body is a reflection of what you do to it and for it every day. That is, those things that you do consistently are the results you will get. This is why it is absolutely vital that you choose an eating and exercise plan you can stick with for the long haul.
In Thursday’s blog, “Consistently Holding Yourself Accountable” I dished up some tough love about excuses. It’s hard to hear, I know. But the way I achieve consistency is by kicking excuses to the curb!
If you haven’t seen this week’s “Motivational Mondays” video with Brendan you owe it to yourself to watch. Brendan lost over 60 lbs. and has kept it off for over a year. He describes how he used a tracking app on his phone to keep calories in check, about obstacles he encounters and what keeps him motivated day after day.
Another video clip worth watching is my recent appearance on KING 5 television’s “New Day Northwest.” I will have a recurring segment on the show where we’ll be experimenting in the kitchen, trying new workouts and talking about all things healthy. This will be fun!
The final installment of our “Motivational Mondays” interviews will conclude this week with the one person I was most excited to talk to – my mom! At age 70+ my mom took charge of her health and lost 70 lbs. Her story teaches us all that it’s never too late to take better care of yourself. I know you’ll enjoy hearing her story so stay tuned!
